Heatherette Show - New York Fashion Week

I always love seeing the pictures from the Heatherette shows.

Never a dull moment!

Designers Richie Rich and Travor Rains always have a wild show in store. Their shows are always colorful, pure eye candy.

Yes, that's Kimora..

As always Amanda Lepore was the star, this time playing Glenda the good witch during the 'Wizard of Oz' theme of the show. Lydia Hearst was Dorothy, (I want that bag!), the Scarecrow (or is that the Tin M
an or both?) looked like Buck Rogers' slave boy...equipped with easy access in the rear.

Survivor: Cook Islands' J.P. Calderon Comes Out

If any of you watch ''The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency' you'll know that Survivor: Cook Islands' J.P. Calderon was hired by Janice to represent him.

Last week Instinct Magazine contacted Janice regarding offering J.P. a cover.

The only stipulation?

They only place 'out' gay men on their covers. That's when Janice had to go to J.P. and very delicately ask him if he were gay.

I'm sure that Janice already knew his sexual orientation, J.P. hung out at gay clubs and with gay men, but he had never come out publicly. And Janice, unlike Perez Hilton, just wanted J.P. to decide if he was ready or not to come out to the world.

Now, the thing that pissed me off is that The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency reality show stretched this out two weeks.

We were supposed to see J.P. coming out last week but they ran it into a sort of 'To be continued..' bullshit ending. So it will be this Wednesday that we will see J.P. come out publicly.

"It’s not every day somebody gets slapped in the face with a major magazine like Instinct, Janice Dickinson, her TV show.. I think I’m just supposed to do this! I'm coming out and I'm living."

Tyra Banks Responds To Critics About Her Weight Gain

Tyra Banks is firing back at internet sites & blogs that have been posting pictures of her and calling her 'fat'.

Many of you have seen the pictures of her in a one piece bathing suit looking 30 pounds heavier than she was when she modeled. The photos are usually accompanied by captions depicting her as a chunky, fat, has-been.

Tyra is responding to the criticism in an upcoming People Magazine article. She doesn't understand why people are so concerned about her weight still as her modeling days are behind her. She plans to talk about it in more detail in an upcoming 'Tyra Banks Show'.

Galina Espinoza, senior editor for People, told The Early Show's Julie Chen, "They have been mean, calling her ugly, fat, disgusting — all because she put on a little weight. Tyra wasn't aware people were talking about her. She came back from Australia and saw pictures on the Internet and people were calling worried saying, 'You gained 40 pounds, we should talk about this.' She thought, 'What is all the fuss about?' "

"She's saying yeah, she's put on a little weight but she's at a healthy body weight and a healthy size and her big concern is young girls who look up to her, saying, 'We think you are so beautiful and love that you are not a size 2,' " Espinoza said. "What are they going to think if they see my picture being called these horrible things?"

"Now she wants to be honest about all the work that goes into looking that good and what she really looks like," Espinoza said. "Tyra found this ridiculous, saying, 'What does my weight have to do with all of my years of experience and success? I'm not a model any more.' "

Christian Lacroix

I've always loved Christian Lacroix's designs. Colorful, frilly and fun.

He's got a retro yet very feminine collection for Spring/Summer 2007.

Fashion Week Runway Models in New York to be Given 'Recommendations'

The Council of Fashion Designers of America, the group responsible for organizing Fashion Week in New York, has come up with a list of recommendations for models on their
runways.

They did not set any weight limits per se, but are rather trying to encourage a healthy lifestyle and focus on educating the models.

The organizat
ion issued the following statement,

"Other groups have set strict rules about how much (or little) models are allowed to weigh. However, the CFDA is not recommending that models get a doctor's physical examination to assess their health or body mass index to be permitted to work … Eating disorders are emotional disorders that have psychological, behavioral, social, and physical manifestations, of which body weight is only one."

The group plans on banning smoking and drinking from backstage, encouraging models to work limited hours, and discouraging models under 16 to work the runways.

They also plan to supply the models with nutritious snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. I guess you can say that's a start. Seems like pretty obvious stuff to me.

But what I want to know is, how exactly is this going to change anything? Models are going to do what models can to get work. And no matter what the CFDA says nothing is going to change the way the models are living if people in the industry keep hiring them.
