VH1 AND ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY ARE BACK TO DETERMINE “WILDCARD” TEAM FOR THE SECOND SEASON OF “THE 2007 WORLD SERIES OF POP CULTURE”

Online Qualifying Pop Culture Exam To Take Place Wednesday, February 14, 2007 At 7:00 PM (EST) and 10:00 PM (EST) At http://pciq.vh1.com

Valentine’s dinner plans will be slightly delayed, while pop culture fanatics throughout the country test their talents online in hopes of qualifying for VH1 and Entertainment Weekly’s upcoming televised competition, “The 2007 World Series of Pop Culture.”

VH1 and Entertainment Weekly’s “PCIQ” is a standardized test designed to measure pop culture knowledge in the areas of television, movies, music, and pop culture news. Three of the top scorers from the online exam will join forces to become the 16th and final “wildcard” team in the tournament. This “wildcard” team will compete along with the 14 teams cast during the in-person regional qualifiers and last year’s returning champions, El Chupacabra. For more information including online test rules and guidelines visit http://pciq.vh1.com .

Exam Description & Instructions:

§ The “PCIQ” exam will consist of six (6) sections including pop culture analogies, quote identification, lyric identification, error identification, numbers and actor/actress body of work identification.

§ Each section will contain ten (10) questions. Contestants will be given six (6) minutes to complete each section.

§ Don’t bring two No. 2 pencils — the exam will be administered online.

§ Contestants are advised to arrive at their computers by 6:55 PM (EST) for the 7:00 PM (EST) test or 9:55 PM (EST) for the 10:00 PM (EST) test.

§ Contestants must begin the 7:00 PM (EST) test no later than 7:10 PM (EST), and the 10:00 PM (EST) test no later than 10:10 PM (EST). The system will not allow participants to start the test any later.

§ Contestants may only work within each section of the “PCIQ” exam for the time allotted. Participants will not be permitted to go back to a section once that section has ended. Contestants are permitted to start the next section if they finish a section early.

§ Applicants may take the “PCIQ” exam twice (i.e., once at 7 PM (EST) and once at 10 PM 9EST)), but the average of their two test scores will be taken to form a final score.

American Idol Hopefulls Already Having Pasts Drudged Up

Akron Watson, who was on last nights San Antonio episode with his cousin has been dropped from the competition.

He was dropped by producers via phone call and without explanation two days before leaving for Hollywood. As it turns out, Akron was arrested in 2003 for a marijuana related incident. His court records have been obtained and posted by PegasusNews.com.

Oh geeze, here we go. Reefer madness! It was three years ago, give the guy a break.

Another contestant from San Antonio, Ashlyn Carr, also has a past arrest on her record. Last August she was arrested for pouring sugar into an ex-boyfriends gas tank. She confessed to the crime. But the crime must not have been bad enough for AI producers to can her. Ashlyn continues on in the competition.

Who's Going to Leave 'The Bad Girls Club' Tonight?

Tonight's episode is promising to be as exciting as the Ripsi's drunken rage episode.

Aimee, the gal I thought was cool and catty at the beginning of the season has since worn on me. She is bitter and brash, and reminds me of 'Glum' from the 80's cartoon, 'Gulliver's Travels'. She actually bleached a ton of the other girls' clothing for pulling a prank on her.

Anyhow, she and Ty will be getting into a nice cat spat on tonight's show. One of the girls is going to leave the show, but which one?

I have to say that I hope it's Aimee. Ty is not always putting up a front like Aimee. Aimee may act all tough and bitchy, but i bet when it comes down to it, Ty will beat her ass!

Watch it happen tonight at 10P/9C!

Adrianne Curry Blasts 'Top Model' & Revlon

Adrianne revealed the way it really was filming the reality show and the contract that she received when she won.

From TMZ.com:

Adrianne Curry, who was the Season One winner of "America's Next Top Model," has lambasted the show and Revlon, claiming that she "has yet to see a dime from Revlon" for her work. "We were told the winner would be an instant millionaire, that our faces would be plastered everywhere in Revlon ads. None of which turned out to be true ... I still haven't got paid for the work I did for them!" steamed Curry. Miss Curry is super mad at the supermodel show, blasting them on her MySpace blog, saying "... they had no money ... no clue what they were doing ... all they had was mind f***ing us for good tv [sic]."

Adrianne also claims that the girls hardly slept during filming, were kept hungry for long periods and were crammed into small quarters to guarantee drama. The Revlon campaign "turned out to be only a day's work at a convention." Not so fabulash!
Adrianne, who married "Brady Bunch" babe Christopher Knight last May, added that "Top Model felt like I was on a fierce 'Survivor!'" A rep for "Top Model" had no comment.

VH1's 'I Love New York'

Okay, okay.

I have been meaning to make a great big post about VH1's 'I Love New York' since the season premiere a few weeks back. I better get to it before the season is over. Damn time flies.

(Now keep in mind when I wrote this I have yet to finish this weeks episode-I'm finishing the DVR tonight so I have NO IDEA who is getting let go..)

The season premiere sort of freaked me out. I thought I was going to hate the show. Although it has in a way grown on me, it still does not carry the dramatics that 'Flavor of Love' did. But obviously there is no way that men can possibly create as catty a reality show as women can. So, duh, I should have known that going into it.

First impressions?

My first impression of Mr. Boston was, oh my gawd, what is this poor white boy doing there? He seemed far to dweebish to even be on the show. I had no idea how this guy would even be able to compete with the others. But a few shows into it, I sort of see the personality coming out in this guy. He's funny. And funny is good. My only hesitation now is the fact that he stated on the VH1 site that he has cheated on every single girlfriend he's ever dated. Not cool Bostontonio! Care to comment?

Onix. Whoa, what a hottie. This guy (so far) seems to have it all. He's got manner, a bod and a personality to boot. So what is his flaw? Only time will tell...or not!

The notorious Chance. I have to admit, I could NOT stand Chance in the beginning. When I saw him go off on Sister Patterson (who I think is whack anyhow) I immediately did not like him. He came off as brash, ghetto and rude. All I know is that if that had been my momma, mofo would have been GONE! But since then he has mellowed, and seems cool, but I still got on eye on him.

Chance's brother Real seems very...real. One kool kat, doesn't feel the need to impress or overwhelm, and that's hella cool in a guy. But he may be lacking in theatrics, which is something that I think our dear New York needs.

Bonez. I was sad to see that mofo leave. But New York was right. She would have corrupted that sweet ass.

The steroid child of the house, 12 Pack. 12 Pack is way too self absorbed, and seemingly only in it for the competitive side of things. I would bet my 401K, life savings and IRA's all to the fact that this boy is in it for the exposure. And besides, he's too damn pretty.

Heat..the Italian Stallion or whatever he is. This guy irritates me only because he is so easy to predict. Nothing about him excites me or stands out. Next!

The craziest mofo of the house, Pootie. Thank goodness they sent that brother home. There was serious mental instability going on in that noggin of his. Throwing himself downstairs , having a complete breakdown on the show..it makes you wonder who did the casting for 'I Love New York'. Warning signs..? Any...?

Rico Suave. Rico is a hottie who seems like a pretty cool guy to hang out with. He's a total hottie, and seems really sweet. If only I could believe that he was genuinely interested in New York..

Then there is Tango. I'm not sure what to think of Tango. So I don't really.

The brokest motherfucker on the show, Tweed. That bitch claimed to have over $100 million in assets. He couldn't just say $10 million or $1 million...bitch had to call out $100 million. You just knew he was full of shit when he pulled that number out of his ass.

Whiteboy seems cool. He just lost a great friend last week, and that was the most real I have seen the show be since it's premiere. He seems cool, but after seeing him go off about Pootie, I think he may have a chip on his shoulder.

Okay did I forget anyone? Oh well if I did.

There's my wrap up of the guys on VH1's 'I Love New York'. I still would bet my booty that New York will end up with Chance, because he's all 'thug' like she likes, and he disrespects her mother. Seems like a match made in heaven to me

Survivor: Cook Islands' J.P. Calderon Comes Out

If any of you watch ''The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency' you'll know that Survivor: Cook Islands' J.P. Calderon was hired by Janice to represent him.

Last week Instinct Magazine contacted Janice regarding offering J.P. a cover.

The only stipulation?

They only place 'out' gay men on their covers. That's when Janice had to go to J.P. and very delicately ask him if he were gay.

I'm sure that Janice already knew his sexual orientation, J.P. hung out at gay clubs and with gay men, but he had never come out publicly. And Janice, unlike Perez Hilton, just wanted J.P. to decide if he was ready or not to come out to the world.

Now, the thing that pissed me off is that The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency reality show stretched this out two weeks.

We were supposed to see J.P. coming out last week but they ran it into a sort of 'To be continued..' bullshit ending. So it will be this Wednesday that we will see J.P. come out publicly.

"It’s not every day somebody gets slapped in the face with a major magazine like Instinct, Janice Dickinson, her TV show.. I think I’m just supposed to do this! I'm coming out and I'm living."

-J.P. Calderon, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency

The Beckham's British Invasion

The Beckham's have been offered their own reality TV show.

Fox TV has offered the Beck's their own reality show called, "Living With The Beckhams."

The cameras will follow their every move as they make themselves at home in Los Angeles. Shopping, mingling with Thetans, running the kids around, and showing us everything that we don't have..and will never have, Heh.

Sources tells People Magazine, “At the moment neither David nor Victoria are majorly famous in the States, but starring in their own show on one of America’s biggest channels would catapult them to instant stardom."

Bullocks! I would hardly say that neither Beck is famous here in the United States. Both David and Victoria are very followed and very watched, throughout the world. So can we stop with the 'They're not that famous here' crap I keep reading everywhere?

As for the reality show, would you watch it? I think I would have to watch just to oogle over gorgeous David, and make wonderfully catty remarks about Posh.

Bad Girls Club

I have this sick weakness for reality shows.

Especially ones where there is a lot of cat fighting. Who doesn't love to watch a good fight?

I have been meaning to post about this show because it's truly hysterical and pathetic all wrapped up into a big wad of devlish delectability.

'Bad Girls Club'
is on Oxygen, and it's about a houseful of bitches who are self proclaimed 'Bad Girls'.
It's already a few episode's into it, but you can catch the reruns, as they are being played often.

The best episode so far of course has been when 'Ripsi', the house lush, gets wasted on Patron Tequila and goes on a massive anger fueled rampage. She kicks the shit out of 'Kerry', the crybaby, and then goes after Jodie while she is sleeping. Heh.

If you haven't seen the show yet, here is a clip of what you have missed.

Ripsi has since been kicked off the show.
Too bad, because I actually liked Ripsi. She brought all the excitement to the show.

I wish I would have been in the house. She would have been so easy to kick the crap out of! I mean, she was wasted beyond wasted! But not one person stepped up and beat her ass..because she did totally deserve it. Kerry just cried to everyone and milked it to death after it happened. Some 'bad girl' she is.

So yes, I am hooked on this show. Here are my thoughts and opinions on each of the girls in the house. Even Ripsi - even though she is no longer in the house after her Patron incident.

Rispsi. I love Ripsi. Although she is a total drunken lush, she is spontaneous and fun. Just don't get on her bad side after she's drank a half bottle of booze. She comes from a very well to do family, and has tons of designer everything. If you are her friend though, she will stick to you like glue. She is most certainly spoiled, her mother still does her laundry and daddy buys her anything she wants no matter the cost. But is that her fault or theirs? Ripsi is a giving friend, and after she was kicked out of the house she gave a few of the girls many of her designer shoes, dresses and handbags.

Leslie is an Atlanta stripper who rode into the first episode on her crotch rocket. I like Leslie. She isn't your typical dancer. She is very smart and headstrong. She also won't put up with shit. She says what she feels but doesn't like to get involved with other people's problems. She defends Jodie in a nightclub in one episode and that comes back to bite her in the ass afterwards. She vows to never get involved again. She would definitely be a very loyal friend, and would also say it like it is.

Jodie, Jodie, Jodie. Can't stand this man-bitch. Jodie believes that she is God's gift to everything. She is very successful in Baltimore and has a very active nightlife. But Jodie only gives two craps about..that's right, Jodie. When out clubbing she poses like she is Paris Hilton, puckering her lips and giving everyone bedroom eyes. She thinks she is better than everyone in the house and even told a girlfriend on the phone that she is rooming with 'trash'. She is a conceited bitch who will backstab anyone to get what she wants. I know for a fact that I would not get along with scroty Jodie.

Aimee. Aimee is a total bitch, but the kind that I love. She says exactly what she thinks without sugarcoating any of it. She doesn't like fake or slutty chicks. She hails from South Philly and has an attitude bigger than any girl in the house. She is somewhat different from the other girls in that I really don't think she gives two shits about making friends with any of them. She is a sort of loner who isn't into all that foofy shit that most girls her age are into. She also isn't into impressing anyone.

Zara. Zara is the naive one of the bunch. She will believe anything you tell her and sometimes that gets her into trouble. She annoys the other girls because her naivety comes off as just plain immaturity at times. She has a boyfriend at home who she toys with like a cat and mouse. She tells him about another guy she is spending time with on the show and expects the boyfriend to be waiting with arms open wide when she returns. Although not the smartest, she is a sweet girl who just needs to learn about the world the hard way. From her mistakes.

Kerry. Kerry is an aspiring country music singer who lost her recording contract after posing for FHM magazine. Kerry is annoying and very manipulative. She also toys with her bf back home, but worse than Zara does. After her fight with Ripsi, Kerry's gorgeous & sweet boyfriend flies in to comfort Kerry, who treats him like shit the entire time and then after she is done using him tells him that he can go home. The next day she is drooling all over the 'pool boy', and then bumping and grinding all over him at a club. Once she realizes she can get pool boy, she makes him out to be a fool and claims she never wanted to have anything to do with him. Then it's back to the boyfriend. Can't stand her or her ski jump nose.

Ty. I like Ty. She comes from the school of hard knocks and there is no fronting here. She is the real deal. Ty practically raised herself and is very self sufficient and real. She never starts shit with anyone but would definitely 'end it' if need be. There is no game playing with her, and you will always know right where you stand with her. The only thing I have heard the girls bitch about her is how long it takes her to get ready for a night on the town. Ty seems to be a good friend who wouldn't backstab you or screw you over..as long as you treated her with the same respect.

Yul Wins Survivor

In a massively long & drawn out three hour finale, a winner finally emerged.

The Survivor jury voted Yul the winner over Ozzy.

I was actually surprised that Yul won, but he was the one I was pulling for. I didn't have anything against Ozzy, but I was seriously tiring of him winning every single challenge.
The jungle boy, no doubt.
He could climb anything, swim faster, balance himself longer, and basically outperformed every other person in the tribe. That's why I thought he had it won.

He cried at tribal council describing the lack of a relationship he has had with his father, and how his father doesn't want to have anything to do with him. I thought for sure after that he had the win in the bag.

Then there was Yul who outsmarted and out plotted everyone. Yul played the smartest game and that's why I think he won in the end.
It was a hard game for him to play as he sometimes had to be deceitful, and it really isn't in his nature to be that way. But that is the name of the Survivor game.

I loved the final challenge between Sundra and Becky. More than a month on the island and neither could make a fire! After an hour and a half of trying, Jeff finally announced, "We are going to matches".
I about shit myself.
And even with matches it took awhile to get their fires going. Sundra went through an entire pack of matches and still couldn't get a fire going.
The most entertaining moment of the entire three hours.

We found out that Adam & Candice are only friends these days. I have feeli
ng that Candice was much more into it than playboy Adam. Sorry about your luck Candy.

Oscar was one funny looking dude after you shaved him and cleaned him up. His overbite stuck out like, well, like an overbite, and he had gained some of his original weight back. He looked better as the jungle boy Ozzie.

Overall I'd have to say it was a pretty uneventfull Survivor. But I guess after watching an entire season of Flavor of Love beforehand, everything is uneventful!

Here is an interview with Yul by Entertainment Weekly.

Yul Kwon, the 31-year-old management consultant from San Mateo, Calif., who led the multiethnic Aitu alliance to the final four, won the big prize on Survivor: Cook Islands last night. We caught up with the so-called puppet master this morning and got him to spill all about the season's race-based controversies, his alleged string pulling, and the notorious hat trick.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Obviously, it was a very close vote. And yet Ozzy gave some pretty amazing speeches in that final tribal council, including that gut-wrenching story about the bio-dad who didn't want anything to do with him. Did you think he may have clinched it that night?

YUL KWON: I honestly don't think the final tribal council made much of a difference toward the final vote. I wasn't sure who voted either way — Ozzy and I put our heads together and kind of figured it out. For the people who voted for me, I think their decision was made before that final tribal council.

Do you know who voted for you?
I'm not 100 percent positive. My guess on my side? I think I had Jonathan, Candice, Sundra, Brad, and Adam, and Ozzy had Rebecca, Parvati, Nate, and Jenny.

It seems like you had the respect of just about everybody on that jury. That said, who do you think liked you the least?
My guess would be Parvati. Obviously she sort of had a thing for Ozzy. I don't think anyone intentionally disliked me. I think people felt I was a pretty good guy, but I think obviously there are varying levels of like and respect. I think Parvati respected me as a competitor but I think she just liked Ozzy a lot, lot more.

I know you liked and respected Becky, but tradition has it that only two people go into the final vote. Did you resent that Becky — or possibly Sundra — was there?
Not at all. Especially in Becky's case, she really deserved a lot more credit than she's been getting. She was very much a partner with me in terms of our strategizing and collaborating together. She's not a quiet personality, she's very strong and forceful and strong in challenges. I absolutely believed she deserved to get there. There was a fear on my part that we would end up splitting the vote. We felt the people who voted for me or her would be more similar, so we might end up splitting the vote and giving the victory to Ozzy.

Why did you offer Becky the hidden immunity idol? At the very least, that would have lost you Sundra's vote.
There was some editing going on there. I had offered Becky the idol early on, back after the mutiny, when I honestly didn't think there was much chance that either of us or any of our tribe would get to the end. Becky and I are very much aligned in terms of why we were on the show and what we wanted to do afterwards. We are very committed to serving our community and trying to portray a positive role model for people like ourselves. When we got to the end, Becky always had that option of using the idol. What Survivor didn't show was that we very quickly decided that it was the wrong thing to do. We didn't think for ethical and strategic reasons that it made sense. What would be the point? She'd get to the final three, but there was no way she'd win because people would see her as not deserving. From an ethical standpoint, we just didn't feel good about it. We had a great story of the four of us overcoming these odds, a multicultural coalition of people working together despite individual differences. It seemed like a vile way to end that.

But she brought it up during the jury questioning in an attempt to sway the jury.
When you're talking to the jury, obviously you are trying to present the best case about yourself. So I don't begrudge her.

The jury — Candice especially — found you manipulative. It didn't always seem like you were that calculating out there — more like a guy who's trying hard not to piss everybody off. Which was it?
I don't think of myself as a manipulative person. I came into the game trying to play a very clean game, I quickly realized I was being naïve. I never said I wouldn't lie; I did a lot of it. I was spinning everybody at one point and had everybody believing I was going with them to the final two. I did do my best to treat people with respect and consideration, especially in my own alliance. The whole moniker of being the puppet master is not really accurate. The reason I was effective as a leader was because I really listened to what everybody had to say. I think everyone felt they had ownership.

For once and for all, did you bring Jonathan's hat to be nice or to be manipulative?
I did it to be nice! I swear to God. I was begging the crew people to give him the hat! In general, the show is very authentic; people don't tell you what to do. That was the only instance where I felt there was some manipulation and I got fed up. I asked the crew at tribal council and even before I left the island, please give this to Jonathan. At one point they said yes, but then left to have an hour-long discussion, and then came back and said, ''You want to give him the hat, go ahead.'' I'm like, what's the big deal? I put it on the jury box before the jury came in so no one would know and then Probst says, ''Yul makes this bold power play!'' I was like, what?

Why didn't you say to Jeff, ''You know the jury wouldn't have known I brought the hat, had you not brought it up!''
I did! They cut all that stuff out. The truth of the matter is, even if I knew Jonathan or anyone in the game would have voted against me, I still would have gotten him the hat. There's no reason to be mean about it.

You read the negative press that Survivor generated early on about its decision to break up the tribes down racial lines. What did you think? Were you fearful that viewers would boycott the show?
I was, but I knew how things played out. When the game started, I was very uncomfortable and I thought about quitting. I didn't want to be involved in something that could set racial relations back 20 years. Survivor is a great show — it's the gold standard of reality TV — but a lot of reality TV thrives on artificial conflict. There was a time when it looked like all the Raro members would eliminate all the minorities and go to the final four together. I don't believe anyone on the show had any racism going on. But I think there are a lot of people in the country who would have drawn the wrong implications from that.

Ultimately, the twist paid off — but Survivor could have accomplished that by having fully integrated tribes from the beginning. If you had a say from the beginning, would you have done what CBS did?
I think it would be just as interesting and far less controversial if you had four different tribes made up of one person from each ethnicity. You'd still have diversity. The way this game was set up, you don't know if people stuck together because of racist attitudes or because they happened to spend the most time with certain people because they had an opportunity to bond. I believe it's the latter.

What are you going to do now? Will you go back to your old job?
No, I don't think so. I feel a strong sense of responsibility to use this opportunity to benefit the community, make a difference. I'd like to spend some time working with different nonprofits that I'm passionate about.

What about going into politics?
I've worked with Joe Lieberman and Steve Wesley. I don't know if you believe me, but I don't actually like being in the spotlight. It kind of makes me feel self-conscious. I know it's ironic coming from a person who was on a reality show.

...who had his shirt off the whole time. Honestly, I don't know if I'd like being in the spotlight 24 hours a day. On the other hand, I want to do whatever I can to make an impact. I wouldn't rule anything out.

Clearly you work out. You didn't earn that spot in People magazine's Sexiest issue for nothing.
I was pretty out of shape when I found out I was going to be on. I was so busy working in the corporate world. I had about six weeks before the show and I went crazy — I worked out twice a day. My body is the type where I don't get super-fat when I don't work out. So for six weeks I was really intense.
